We are delighted to welcome over 130 Dual Award students from our partner institution UoWM KDU in Penang, Malaysia who are just commencing a “virtual exchange programme”. This is the first time we have offered this provision, and it has been received positively by students and staff alike.
The students, from disciplines including Computing, Business Management, Accountancy, Public Relations, Media Production and Engineering, are each undertaking a 15-credit online module taught by University of Lincoln staff. They will be studying remotely with us for 12 weeks at the same time as following their other on-campus modules taught at the Georgetown Campus in Penang.
In previous years, around 30 of our Malaysian partner college students have visited the University of Lincoln during the summer vacation to take an in-person summer school. Due to travel restrictions, this has been transformed into an on-line programme, meaning that it is a much lower cost leading to a huge increase in participation. Through collaborative projects such as this, we are actively strengthening the relationship between the two institutions and ensuring that our Dual Award students in Malaysia receive a true Lincoln experience, and our Lincoln based students get an opportunity to meet and work with the students from Malaysia thereby internationalising their learning experience as well. If this proves a success we may well continue to offer both physical and virtual mobilities in the future.
