The Language Exchange Programme is a free service which connects students and staff at the University of Lincoln and our international partner institutions with a buddy for an informal language and culture exchange.
Everyone is welcome: whether they’re an international or home student, on an Erasmus exchange, attending one of our partner institutions or a member of staff, students can get involved and start learning a language.
How does it work?
- Sign up by emailing GO@lincoln.ac.uk
- We do our best to match students to a suitable partner who speaks the language they are interested in learning.
- Participants arrange to meet online at a convenient time.
- They should meet once or twice a week for an hour and spend half of the time speaking one language, and half speaking the other. If they’re not learning their partner’s language, they can speak in English the whole time and learn about their partner’s culture.
What are the benefits?
- Improve foreign language skills in an informal, conversational environment
- Learn about a new culture
- Gain cross-cultural communication skills
- Prepare for Study Abroad
- Prepare for a future career working abroad, or where languages might be useful
- Make new friends
- Counts towards the Lincoln Award Global
